The role of the community health department is to provide leadership to the public health and medical communities in a coordinated effort to detect, respond to, and prevent illness. Programs administered by the health department include:
  • Women's Health Care
  • Immunizations
  • Women, Infant, and Children (WIC)
  • Kan-Be-Healthy Screenings
  • Healthy Start

Tuesday & Thursday

Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.:
  • Appointment Only Services
    • Blood pressure and pulse
    • Blood Sugar
    • General counseling
    • Hemoglobin
    • Immunizations (Appointment Only)
    • Injections (with doctor's order)
    • TB testing - one only,
      Tuesday from  8 a.m. to noon / 1 to 4 p.m., and Wednesday, 4 to 5:30 p.m.
    • Urinalysis


  • Appointment Only Services 4 to 5:30 p.m.
  • Women's Health Care 4 to 5:30 p.m.

If you are wondering when the COVID-19 vaccine will be available for you, the KDHE is distributing the vaccine in phases. As a state and as a county, we are in Phase 2 of the Kansas Vaccine Phases.

Miami County Health Department filled all 440 vaccine appointments on Monday, January 25, 2021. At this time, all appointment times have been filled. Due to all slots being filled, the COVID-19 vaccination phone line has been switched off until more vaccines are available. The public will be notified as soon as additional doses become available.

Upon confirmation of your appointment with Miami County Health Department at the Miami County Health Department location only, you will need to complete the COVID-19 form at Complete the form on the website, print the form, and bring it with you to your appointment.
