Undersheriff Matthew P. Kelly started his career in 2007 with the Louisburg Police Department. In 2012 he was hired as a Deputy Sheriff assigned to the Patrol Division. Since then, he has been a Detective, Patrol Sergeant and a Captain assigned to the Operations Divisions. He was sworn in as Undersheriff on April 4, 2022. Undersheriff Kelly is married with two children.
Undersheriff Kelly is a graduate of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center 196th Basic Academy, Central States L.E.E.D.S. 28th Session and a recipient of the F.B.I. Trilogy Award. He is a graduate of Kansas University's Law Enforcement Leadership Academy where he received his Certified Public Manager certification. He is a member of the National Sheriff's Association, Kansas Sheriff’s Association, Kansas Peace Officer’s Association, American Jail Association, FBI LEEDA and the International Association of Chief’s of Police. He is the Co-Chair of the Mid America Regional Council's Command Level Peer Support Program.
